The Winternship allowed students to accompany staff for 1-3 days during their winter vacation in January, giving them the opportunity to observe court hearings and ask questions. It provides participants with hands-on experience and educates students about the work the Legal Aid Society does to serve New Yorkers. Currently, all of our internship opportunities are hosted virtually. Long description: Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy accepts articling students to assist the Advocacy Center in providing legal services; Provide the intern with a learning opportunity in legal procedures, substantive law and non-profit management. Interns also learn how low-income people are affected by the law. Interns perform the following functions: The Agricultural Workers Unit provides free civil legal assistance to agricultural workers throughout the country. The unit has four lawyers, a community education coordinator and three paralegals. LANC is committed to ensuring high quality representation of Farmworker`s customers and offers the opportunity to perform challenging work with dedicated colleagues.

The Legal Services Society offers rewarding internships to students, giving them the opportunity to gain skills and hands-on experience serving our clients. The Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy is a nonprofit agency for the needy that provides civil legal assistance to low-income people in the Charlotte area. The Martin Luther King Jr. program allows law students to spend 10 weeks as paid articling students at Legal Aid of North Carolina. The MLK intern in the Agricultural Worker Unit will work directly with clients and help them meet various needs. Under the supervision of a lawyer, the MLK Legal Intern is responsible for supporting cases in ongoing litigation, interviewing new clients, supporting community education efforts, working with case teams, and attending staff meetings. In addition, the intern should accompany experienced staff a few evenings a week when contacting migrant labor camps. Fluency in Spanish and a valid driver`s license are required. The 10-week scholarship is currently $3,500.00. Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy offers an intensive, practical and rewarding internship for students interested in providing legal services to low-income individuals in the public interest.

The Advocacy Centre has a long tradition of aggressive and effective advocacy, including individual cases, complex litigation and other advocacy projects. Qualifications: Many of the Advocacy Center`s articling students are law students, but we also welcome pre-law articling students, paralegals, social workers, and other undergraduate and master`s level articling students. Martin Luther King Jr. Internship Program The program offers talented law students a 10-week paid opportunity to spend their summer learning about the real world of legal aid advocacy. Work under the supervision of experienced lawyers in offices and projects across the state, bringing legal theory to life by doing substantive work on real cases for real clients. The Legal Services Society offers students the opportunity to work directly with lawyers, paralegals, investigators and staff on client files. Internships are unpaid and can be part-time or full-time. Academic loans may be considered if your school offers this opportunity.
