Most exotic cat hybrids, such as a savannah cat, are not a legal pet in Georgia. Bobcat hunting is legal. Understanding the couple bond in certain breeds – some leopards, such as the clouded leopard, prefer to be in pairs. For breeding purposes, most captive leopards are mated with a member of the opposite sex. To encourage breeding, baby leopards are introduced when they are young, as they need to be “in love” to breed with each other. Permits are required for the importation of legal pets listed in Section 4-71-6.5 of the Hawaii Bylaws. These animals are subject to quarantine rules before being legally distributed to their owners. The possession of large carnivores such as lions, tigers and bears is illegal, as are monkeys, baboons and macaques. There is also a limit of six animals per owner for bobcats, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, quail, opossums, coyotes, deer, red foxes and gray foxes. If you acquired an animal in another state, you must prove that it was acquired legally.
A person may obtain a licence to keep and keep in captivity as a pet, a wild animal acquired from a commercial dealer or during the legal open hunting season. Hunting and trapping of bobcats is permitted with the appropriate permit from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR). The WVDNR regulates the means and methods by which bobcats can be hunted/captured, establishes open seasons, geographic areas and pocket restrictions. WVDNR provides the following for bobcats: Anyone who kills a bobcat`s must affix a filled field tag to the bobcat, or stay with the bobcat, and have (or make) a filled field tag on their person before moving the carcass from where it was killed. The stamp must contain: hunter/trapper`s name, address, hunting licence number, date, time and county of killing. The tag must be affixed immediately to the bobcat, and remain on the carcass until it bears an official wildlife testing tag, which must be completed within 30 days of the end of the bobcat season. It is illegal to possess unmarked fur or bobcats after 30 days after the end of the season. There is no open season to hunt mountain lions.
